About The Dart
The Dart was a sedan that was manufactured by Dodge between 2012 and 2016. It used the nameplate of the classic Dodge Dart that was in production until 1976. During its time on the market, there was only a single generation released.
Dodge first debuted the model at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
It was also called the Fiat Viaggio and Fiat Ottimo in China and non-US markets. Other similar models include the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, and Hyundai Elantra.
It features a 4-door sedan layout with only front-wheel drive. There is also a 5-door hatchback version sold by Fiat called the Ottimo. These were built on the Compact US Wide platform, a modified version of Fiat’s Compact Platform.
Trim levels consisted of the base SE, followed by the middle-of-the-road option SXT, the upper-tier Limited, and finally the premium GT. Another notable option includes the Aero package.
The Aero option was heavily based on the SXT but had an increased emphasis on fuel economy.
Powertrains were exclusively petrol. These consisted of various turbocharged inline-4 engines. These changed depending on the selected trim package and were a 1.4-liter FIRE, a 2-liter Tigershark, and a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine.
Transmission options consisted of various manual and dual-clutch options. These transmissions ranged from 5-speed to 7-speed. There was also a 6-speed automatic version available.
Fiat Chrysler announced in 2016 that the model would be discontinued to allow for more focus on the increasingly popular crossover class of cars. Poor sales figures also played a significant role.
